Any PGA478 compatible CPU's for My iMac Model?

I currently have a p7500 2.26 GHz in my iMac. I was wondering if there was any compatibles. I’m looking to upgrade the CPU to possible max performance.

I’ve looked online and it says supposedly that my CPU is socketed so I should be able too upgrade it.

I’m just not sure if Apple has locked the firmware to my specific CPU or only the CPU’s that they used in their mac models

Your systems specs: 20" iMac Core 2 Duo" 2.26 (Mid-2009)

The CPU in this series is a Core 2 Duo Processor P7550

thanks, although im not sure if i were to get a better same socket cpu would it work? im almost positive that the cpu was socketed.

The issue is not if the CPU is socketed or not. What are you going to install? There just isn't any TDP 25 Watt CPU's that's any better than what your system came with.

i just wanted to reduce lag sometimes. its usually fine though.

Sadly, your system is limited to Core 2 Duo CPU’s and ones that only use 25 TDP.
