Ghosting/ smearing of image.

I’m not sure if that’s the best description but it’s all I could think of. My screen starting kind of smearing the image and often times bouncing. I tried resetting nvram and smc and it didn’t work. I upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur and same issue. Any other things I could try?

under about this Mac mine says 2018 not late 2018 but that’s all I could choose when I looked it up. Probably the same model

Ouch! Not good ;-{

Your internal display has failed! Sadly, the T-CON logic within it is failing. This is what controls the scan of the image to the LCD panel.

Not as experienced with Mac repair and I’ve never seen anything exactly like this, I’ll follow this just to see what the issue ends up being.

Sadly, I've seen it a few times.

Too bad it’s not a known issue to happen more often. I just had my 2016 MacBook Pro fixed for free for a screen issue. ):

I appreciate the info @danj - that's a shame how much of a bother it is and how wildly expensive it is to replace.

Also, respect to you and your expertise - I'm new here but have seen you popping up everywhere among the questions answered and guides. You're an inspiration.
