My mail quits unexpectedly (high sierra)

A couple of days ago, while reading my mails, the app closed. And since then it keeps quitting unexpectedly frequently. Sometimes works for up to an hour sometimes it crashes in seconds. Tried PRAM reset, starting the app form applications, started with shift pressed, did a clone the OS and started from there, but the issue remains. Also the mails inside are organised in folders and i can’t lose that. Is there any ideas? What can i do to fix this issue without losing my folder organisation? Will i have any luck if i migrate to Mojave?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @Messer

What mail client did you use? Outlook? how about your mail server? o365 or private? i suspect either software is having issues.

I’d run a good “Paid For” anti-virus program like Symantec Endpoint protection or WebRoot. Viruses on Macs are now rampant.

Thanx for the tip, already did this (forgot to mention it). It indeed find 3-4 threats and put then to quarantine (or maybe deleted them), but this didnt seem to work...

You’ll need to boot up under an external drive and then run Disk Utility to see if you can fix the corruption. Otherwise you’ll want to create a TimeMachine backup, then reformat the drive and re-install your user accounts, I would download fresh copies of your apps from the Apps Store and any directly from the publisher of the app. Then restore your TimeMachine backup of your data. On the most part your folder and file positions will stay the same at the OS level.
