Suction on beater bar switches to the hose when properly reclined

My dyson light ball seems to have great suction in the hose but when I recline it back and the feet which help the dyson to stand flick upwards, the suction switches to the hose instead of the beater bar.

I can’t figure out what’s going on with it?
