Lacie d2 Quadra Hard Disk won’t power up

I have an old Lacie drive that uses a 4-pin (circular) plug connection from the power supply bar to the hard drive. The power bar shows a steady green light until I connect its 4-pin plug to the lacie drive; then the green light flashes intermittently & fades in colour. The drive won’t power up, so I assume something is wrong with the receiving end of the 4-pin connection. What can I do to fix this, or to recover the data from the drive before I recycle the device?

To scan the use a universal adapter to hook the drive up and recover your data:

Thanks very much for that information. Mine is quite a bit different than that one on the inside (mine may be an earlier model?); and the universal power adaptor would need a 4-pin (DIN?) circular plug to power this drive. However, I am suspicious that my power adaptor may be fine, but that the receiving end (in the hard drive case) might be where the failure is. If there is a way to bypass the power receptor in the hard drive and access the data, I’d be happy. (I did try another power adaptor, but it did not work, so I suspect the problem lies in the small black box that houses the power port on the hard drive.) Is there a way or a work-around to get at the drive’s data that would bypass the faulty connection?

Oh gosh! Now I see what you were intending with that universal adaptor!

Thank you!!,

I have the same problem. Could you explain what was intended with the universal adaptor? I didn't understand how the video could help.
