Did they REALLY fix the "Antennagate" issues?

Did the new iPhone 4S resolve the issues with holding the phone on the bottom corner? My iPhone 4 absolutely goes from 4 - 1 bar when touching the bottom corner. I HOPE a case is not "Suggested" for correcting this with the new 4S.

Thanks!!!!

Apple insists that the issue is fixed by switching between two antennas (still the steel bezel around the case) to maximize call reception. How well this works is still a mystery. We'll have to wait and find out when full reviews come out, but from our teardown we cannot determine the answer.

Hope this helps!

Apple has not spoken on the issue.

During the keynote, they mentioned that they had a revolutionary antenna design-- dual anntenae, but the phone is a dual-gsm-cdma phone, requiring two antennas. In a world phone situation, the phone would switch between the two antennas frequently. This is what they've spoke about.

I currently own a 4S and it seems the 'antenna-gate' issue has been resolved. Although, like most smartphones, you may lose a slightest bit of reception but because of the new "antenna switching" method, it's not enough to reflect on the signal bars.
