Is there a diff from 6th gen?

I bought a new iPod Nano this weekend, but I think I got a 6th gen which I needed to update at home to the most recent software. Is there a difference between 6th and 7th gen?

Thanks! I use it as a watch. Do you know if there's a way to tell it to stay on? It's blank unless I hit the button. Not a great feature for a watch!

There actually does not seem to be a way to leave the backlight on. All I could find was setting it to automatically display the clock when you unlock the Nano.

So, from our teardown we found out that there is no difference between the two! Oh, Apple and your marketing ways. The new one uses a few different chip manufacturers, but the device is the same. We have last year's model as well as this year's model, both updated with the new software, and can verify that they work the same. The only change is the nice, new, lower price. Enjoy your Nano!

Is this 7th Gen only available in the Sates yet? Apple told me the Nano they sell on their website is the 6th Gen and that they don't have a 7th!!

As far as I know, the 7gen is a 6gen with different manufacturers and already shipped with the latest firmware instead of needing an iTunes update. It's likely they sell both, and can't tell who's who.

Stefano gigante is absolutely right. There really is not an official 7th gen. yet. Only 6th gen with the upgrades mentioned above.
