Laptop connected to wifi, but there is still no internet access

I’m having an issue with my laptop that I cannot seem to find a fix for even though there are multiple resources regarding internet connection issues. My problem is with an Acer Aspire 5740-5513. It recognizes WiFi and Ethernet connections to my home networks, but even though it shows as “connected”, whenever I open up a browser, I get internet access issues on the webpages. Whenever I go to utilize the Windows Network Troubleshooter, there are absolutely no options available for troubleshooting. I have even attempted a manual update to the network card by using a USB, but it did not fix anything. Any ideas as to the issue?

Hi @jlee66211 ,

If Win10 is installed, try starting in safe mode with networking and check if it works OK.

If so it may be a program that is interfering such as an A/V program (anti virus).

If a 3rd party A/V is installed try temporarily disabling it and check if the browsers work OK when in normal mode.

The screen will look different as Safe mode only loads generic Windows drivers on startup, not specific hardware drivers and also doesn't load any startup programs etc. It helps to determine if is is more of a hardware or software problem
