Why is my home button not clicking?

I replaced the home button with a new button as well as gasket and at first when the home button wasnt clicking I thought it was cause it had no gasket but now that it does it still feels squishy and the only other thing I can think of is that the screw on the top right of the home button bracket is missing but the button still has 2 screws in I even tried bending the bracket in some but it still would not click, Help please :(

Lift the screen and put pressure on the bracket on top of the home button and with the other finger press the home button and see if it clicks. If it doesn’t click the home button you purchased is probably faulty. If it does click find a screw to replace the one that is missing.
