Powers on, Front white LED comes on, no startup sound

When powered, the system turns on, the front led comes on and stays on, but no boot sound. I have tried resetting the SMU. When I did this the front LED no long came on and all I got was a very loud full speed fan at boot up. I unplugged it for a day or two, and it is back to the original front LED and no boot. This was brought to me after a strong storm knocked the power out of the co-worker's house. Any suggestions for moving forward? I've scoured this site and many others looking for solutions.

It sounds like a RAM problem to me. Remove and reseat or replace the RAM. It is normal for the front LED to go off after startup. It means the machine is communicating with the monitor. If the light does not go off after startup, it may be your logic board. You could also reset the SMC/SMU and/or check the internal LEDs. And you could also try to score yourself an Apple Service Diagnostic disc for that model (ASD 3S108 I believe). HTH. Good luck!
