Do phones get wet when the glass is broken?

I had 2 phone that broke without me knowing what happened, one time I was asleep and I woke up and the black glass of my Google pixel XL is cracked and it was wet inside, enough time I was doing PE in school and left my phone in my bag with no water around it and the OnePlus7Tpro was completely smashed on purpose by someone who was in that room it had the same water all over the phone and the same person who was in the room when my Google pixel was cracked and had water in it. Is water dripping from the phone when the glass is damages normal or not.
