Battery icon with! -- replaced battery, no joy :(

Aw, heck. My Kindle Voyage sat unused for a long time and has an icon on the display — a battery with a ! in the center. Charging it did not help. I attempted a reset, did not help. Dead battery, I figured. But I replaced the battery and — nope, no joy! I undid and reconnected connectors, eyeballed the whole board with a magnifiers, can’t find any obvious faults.

Anyone have any ideas?

moec check your charging cable as well. If that is okay you need to get a multimer cnd check the voltages on the board side of the charging port. Plug the cable into a charger and measure the voltages. Also measure the voltages on the battery connector to see if you have any power going to the battery. This is of course assuming that your new battery is indeed working properly.
