Sad iPod icon after new battery.

I found my iPod classic 5th gen after years in storage, plugged it in and got 3 three screens. The Apple logo, the sad iPod logo and the very low battery screen. After some research I bought a replacement battery and replaced it successfully. But I still got the sad iPod logo. I don’t know what to do now. Ideas?

Hey @salmonjapan

There is a clicking sound but very quiet and constant. Thanks!

@ilovelucy24680 my colleague @salmonjapan is definitely going the right way. Since you replaced the battery the sad face icon is most commonly caused by a failed hard drive. Those get sticky and do not spin up or get recognized. I dread to suggest that but sometimes a couple of good whacks on the back side of the HDD can free it up. No guarantee and ultimately replacing the HDD would be a better fix iPod 5th Generation (Video) Hard Drive Replacement

There is the case of where you could also have a shot hard drive, it’s about time they start failing, i would recommend getting an iFlash drive since with those you can use SD cards for your storage which has much less chance of going bad.
