2001 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo, headlights stopped working

I have a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo and all of a sudden the headlights stopped working but if I pull the lever for high beams they work but dont stay on. What can i do?

Hi,

There may be a problem with the headlight light switch (aka left multi function switch unit) or perhaps the Body Control Module (BCM) that actually powers the headlights when the switch is operated.

Here’s the 1999-2004 Grand Cherokee Service Manual and Wiring Diagram.

Click on Contents > Lamps to view the section of the manual that deals with the operation of the headlights. On p.8L-24 in the Lamps section it shows how to test the left multi function switch unit to make sure that it is OK or not. You will need a DMM (digital multimeter) and know how to use it to perform the testing.
