What do you mean you can't find anyone to replace the battery? Are they turning you down because there's a high risk of damaging the screen?

by

Yes, that's exactly the problem.

I don't know if you are still looking to get this repair done or not, but if you are I have done several screen replacements on the moto z force droid and have replaced a battery. So far, lord willing, I have not broken a screen in doing so. Let me know if you are still wanting this repair done and I'd be happy to do so.

I’m pretty sure one of my old managers had this phone and he did end up breaking the screen because it is such it high risk. Normally when repair shops break something we do hold ourselves accountable but if it’s a high risk of damaging it as in no matter what we do to try to avoid breaking it, it will still happen, we’ll either decline or you’ll have to pay for that additional part. For example when I get customers in for a google pixel battery I charge them for both the screen and the battery because you have to break the screen to get to the battery.

Thank you, Jesse. What about sending it back to Motorola and having them replace the battery?

by

@jtkp you might have luck there but odds are they'll just send you a refurbished unit.

‘To do a Google pixel battery you have to break the screen’. ???????? Utter cobblers, I’ve replaced plenty of pixel batteries and not once have I broken the screen. What do you use, a crow bar? 🙈

@strongbow no not necessarily but with a little practice I've gotten better at it. Good for you for succeeding at it before I did lol.

@hootonberg Sorry if I sounded like I was ranting, just your comment lol. I have killed a nokia screen. Not broken but killed the lcd by inserting the opening tool 2mm instead of 1mm. Every day is a school day as they say.
