gets hot and shuts down
why does my asus laptop get hot under its left side then shut itself down? it is an older model (2007). i have blown out and then vacuumed out what i could and bought a cooler for underneath.

Can you hear or feel (air coming out of vent) if the fan is operating?
Given that the laptop is >12 years old, when was the last time that the CPU thermal paste was refreshed if ever?
