Why does my replaced camera not show up?

I bought a replacement camera for my Samsung S9+ because the camera glass shattered and scratched the camera lenses.

after swapping the camera for one I bought from Ifixit it no longer shows up and when I open the camera app it comes up with a warning and quits the app

other camera apps can use the front facing camera but not the rear one that I swapped

is this a hardware issue or do I need to tell it that there is a new device

I have already opened it back up and reconnected it and then performed a factory reset to no result.

I know the s9+ was notorious for cameras failing. I also know that there are like 2 or 3 versions of the rear camera and you have to use the corresponding one with your model for it to work. If you have your old one, look on the flex cable it should show you who made the camera like Samsung or Sony.
