The Xbox One Wireless Controller model 1697 was released in 2015 and replaced the model 1537 controller and fixed some of the problems found on Model 1537 controllers. The Model 1697 controller includes an integrated 3.5mm headset jack, which allows compatibility with most 3rd party headsets without the need of an adapter. This controller has been discontinued and replaced by the Model 1708 controller.

Can a loose aux port affect your headset mic?

I recently replaced the headphone jack on my controller as it had issues, the new one works except the mic on my headset won’t work at all. I know the headset is fine as it works perfectly on my laptop, could it be a loose connection somewhere or should i consider a new controller?

I figured out the problem, i just had to gently bend the connection pins on the aux port out slightly and it works perfectly now

Yes, a loose connection can cause problems with microphone connectivity. Check your connections, and maybe try a different set of headphones (if you haven’t tried already)

Make sure that the jack has 4 pins, not three, and that the headset also has 4 pins. (Google “4 pin headphone plug” if you’re unsure)
