Problems booting, new display?

Hey all,

I'm back again with another seemingly curious problem. I had boot/power issues with my Macbook Pro in the past and thanks to everyone's amazing help here I was able to resolve the issue. You can see the old thread here: How do I troubleshoot Logic Board?

Things were working flawlessly from then until just a few days ago. I closed my lid, moved my MBP downstairs, and it never woke up. When I try to boot now, I get the front LED but no chime and no USB/Keyboard power. . . I opened up the keyboard and the fans are actually running. Tried tripping the power pads on the board and that didn't help so it's not a keyboard issue.

The strangest thing is that I just took it into the Apple Store because I thought I might get lucky and be eligible for that NVIDIA settlement extended warranty (no dice). They ran a diagnostic and told me that I needed a new "display." Surprisingly they said it isn't a logic board issue.

I'm a little skeptical about this diagnosis (they mistakenly told me I needed a new logic board before). Because I'm not getting any power to the caps lock LED or USB I was sure this was logic board related.

I just disassembled everything and cleaned out everything but still no dice. Using an external DVI also produces no results, same with trying Target Disk Mode. Would a bad display affect the boot process? What part of the display should I be looking at?

Really curious here. It's another situation where my Macbook just literally stopped working without much reason. Also tried all the normal things (resetting PRAM, SMC, reseating RAM, booting without battery, even tried another battery) although I was reading something about if you try to boot without any RAM should hear a beep that will let you know the firmware is good and I tried that and I don't think I heard anything.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks a ton!

Just wanted to make an update here . I just cooked my logic board in my oven at 375 degree for 7:30 minutes and VOILA, issue resolved =) I knew it wasn't a display issue. Unfortunately, I'm sure this will only be a temporary fix. We'll see how long it lasts!
