G60-1190M, Hard Disk replaced, How do I get OS?

I have a HP G60-1190M laptop. The hard disk broke. It's out of warranty. Had it replaced at Best Buy. OS is gone. No disks came with laptop. The Geek Squad said I need to contact HP to get disks for Windows Vista. Could find no option for that on their support page. Support won't even talk to me since it's out of warranty. I've got an external hard drive and have been backing up regularly. What's my next step?

Since you replaced the HDD you will have to purchase a new OS. You could just get Windows Vista retail and get the drivers for your G60 from the HP website like this one http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...

I know this post is a few months old, but decided to respond so it can help someone else.

You can actually call HP support and buy recovery disks even if your laptop is out of warranty. The hard drive on my G60 laptop crashed a few days ago and its been out of warranty for about 400 days.

I was able to buy a set of recovery disks from HP. The total cost including shipping was $15.78
