isopropyl alcohol 90% replacement

Replacing my Apple Watch S1 screen. In the replacement instructions there are a couple places that says to use isopropyl alcohol 90% or better. Due to Covid-19 all the stores in my area don’t have any at this time. Is there a substitute I can use?

Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

IPA is mostly used to soften the adhesive. It doesn't help much

The problem is you need something that will clean off the adhesive and not leave a film which messes up the fresh adhesive.

So your damed and double damed here ;-{

You can use ethanol but using it in a confined space can be dangerous both from the fumes and the risk of igniting the vapors! And you would need reagent quality which is also hard to find.

You’ll need to wait until you can find it or hunt it down - Sorry ;-{

This might be a good time to mention that for electronics 99% isopropyl alcohol is safest and

for disinfectant 70% is most effective.

This web, though commercial, describes all the concentations and why best quite well.
