500 GB seagate from ifixit keep on making weird noises

shipment from ifixit arrived 3 days ago, put it in yesterday and the hard drive runs and boot up fine. But when under heavy load or sometimes when it is idling the HDD starts to make weird sounds..

the sound would not come continuously but would be like a, rrrrrr...., sound every now and then with regular interval.

Is this an indication that the HDD might be defective?
