Model # RT1971-AC Reset My TV Without the remote

Joseph Holmes  … unfortunately, the factory reset has to be done through the tv. if no onboard buttons are working or non existent, you must use the remote. if no remote or non functional, you can try to download a universal remote on your phone or tablet or buy a universal remote or use one from your cable service. once youre able to access the tvs menu, the sequence to factory reset is under menu, options, factory reset. if this is a newer tv, then your options are as follows:

Method 1

1. Press the INPUT button on the remote.
2. Then press the 2, 5, 8, 0 buttons in quick succession.

1. Press the MENU button on the remote.
2. Then press the 1, 1, 4, 7 buttons in quick succession.

alternatively, you can soft reset by unplugging the tv and draining remaining power by holding the on/off button down for about ten minutes. this may or may not solve any issues youre having by trying to reset in the first place.

if this doesnt work, some motherboards have reset buttons on the motherboard that may or may not reset the system….you can open the back of your set and look for one. you can also check to see if there is a manual update function to reflash the systems software. youll want to visit the manufacturers site for reference. ( usually if the tv has a usb port, this is able to be done)

aside from all of this, the only other option is to replace the eeprom or the motherboard depending on your skills or wanting to do it yourself or not.
