Different diameter size of fans used for the iBook?

Hello,

I repaired my ibook G4 12" 1,33GHz with a mainboard from another same model iBook G4. I noticed that my fan had a smaller diameter than the one in the other ibook I took the mainboard from.

Did Apple use different fans in the same models? My own was from Sept. 2005 and the Mainboard was from one of Jan. 2006.

On my fan there is ca. 3-5mm space from the metal frame to the fan. The other is very close, lets say only 1mm away to the frame.

The iBook G4 1.33 GHz came in both a 12' and a 14" model. You probably put a 14" model fan in your machine.

Well, it's not me, that took a 14" model fan... but I understand, what you are saying. The ibooks I have here are both the same 12" 1,33GHz, but the former owner must have taken a 14" model fan.

Thanks.
