Heating Element Runs Full Blast

I have Frigidaire leq642ds0. After moving across town, I noticed the dryer getting extremely hot, to the point of discoloring the chassis. I took the top off, and ran the dryer again, the heating element glows red hot and does not cycle off.

I have continuity in the cycling thermostat, the high limit thermostat, and the heating element. The element is not broken, nor is it shorted to the case.

I’ve tested everything I can find about why it’s not turning off, and everything checks out. Please help!

Hi,

The high limit thermostat should open the heater circuit if the temperature is exceeded, whilst the control thermostat should do this at the set temperature.

Here’s a link to the parts for the dryer.

There are two circuit diagrams available, one for the electric model and one for the gas model.

Having the circuit diagram, should help to find out why there is a circuit for the heater to operate when there shouldn’t be one.

Hopefully a start.
