Laptop starts intermittently flickering (low key first) and then gets worse until the computer freezes, shuts down or the screen goes flickering blue. Laptop had similar issues in the past and motherboard was replaced with apple care + but that was once 3 years ago and once more 1.5 yr ago!

You may want to contact Apple see if they can offer you some sort of deal on a newer system. Sadly this system was plagued with problems ;-{
