Home Button Fix After Water: Motherboard?

After water damage, everything works but the Home Button. I did the following: 1) replaced the dock assembly; 2) confirmed the button operation with a VOM; and 3) confirmed that the two prongs are still in place. I'm guessing that there's a motherboard problem. Can anyone please make a specific suggestion about components on the board to check? Thank you.

You need to take a look at connector 4 (dock connector) I don't know the specific pin number for the 3gs but on the 3G it is pin 42. Try cleaning it of corrosion or debris. If you can find someone to repair that connection for you or do it your self then that would be the next thing to do.

Thank you, pollytintop...you were kind enough to respond when I first posted after I discovered my problem. I'll try what you suggest and post again.
