MacBook Pro suddenly lost power and now won't turn on

Hey there, my friend has a 2017 13” Macbook Pro with Function Keys (A1708). A couple days ago, she plugged in the laptop and it suddenly crashed on her (it had about 10%). She left it plugged in all night and still wouldn’t turn on the next morning.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • Resetting the SMC
  • Resetting PRAM
  • Opened it up and checked the battery and USB C connectors. Nothing looked out of the ordinary

We know the charger she was using works, because it works on other Macbook Pro laptops. It still won’t turn on or show any sign of life. The fan isn’t spinning and the trackpad isn’t clicking.

What could this be? Faulty battery? Logic Board? SSD?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Ouch! Apple had a recall on the battery in this series 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) Battery Replacement Program This would be a free repair!

Apple also had a few other issues with the SSD’s and logic board. Let Apple have the fun of fixing your system.
