Looking for adhesive the display originally used

Hi, while disassembling the display panel, I noticed that Lenovo uses a special adhesive like the one smartphone battery uses, which can be easily removed by pulling.

An demonstration of the adhesive I'm talking about can be found here: https://youtu.be/RO1Kjb0M_J0 (around 2:55), or https://youtu.be/y6x0i-x6a0A

I love the idea of this kind of tape, but didn't find such adhesive customized for my display. The closest result I found is Tesa Bond & Detach, https://youtu.be/C43twrZhAhc , but there doesn't seem to have a retail or tape version of it.

Is there any alternative tape you would recommend that has similar feature?

Hi @rayzh ,

The part number for the tape is 5T10N00811.

This is found from the Yoga 710-15IKB parts list. Click on Commodity > LCD Consumable tape.

Here’s a link to just one supplier. It is shown only to give an idea of what it looks like and the cost of the part. There are other suppliers online that may suit you better, (although a lot say “currently sold out”). Just search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you.

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.53 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the LCD panel.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I'm actually looking for a more generic solution like rolls of tapes I mentioned, that can be applied in other scenarios like battery replacement, etc.

Do you happen to know such kind of tape?

@rayzh

Sorry. If possible I usually just get what is available for the device I'm working on and go with that. I'm not a professional repairer so I don't use or need a lot.

I used the tape referenced here to re-install the LCD on my Lenovo Yoga 710. It fits perfectly, but I needed to remove it later to fix a bad connection, and the tape does not release like the original tape (by stretching it). I ended up destroying the LCD trying to get the tape to release. I would love to find the exact tape that Lenovo uses, but I’m not sure how to search for it.
