keyboard/trackpad ribbon connector not stay connected to logic board?

Block Image

Hello, i have been having issues after disconnecting my keyboard/trackpad from logic board to replace my fan. When i put everything back together and replaced with a new piece of Kapton Tape over the connector onto logic board its not keeping a hold and coming undone, causing my computer to go into power down screen. Is there anything else i can use that will keep the connector from disconnecting so my computer can be used properly.

Thank you for all your help

im not sure this is the problem your having based on the description..... however you should be able to use standard black electrical tape to answer your question, nothing around that electrical tape would be a problem with as far as i know.

i usually don't bother with the tape if it isn't there when i get one......so haven't done it since the connector should stay in place without it, someone else might be able to comment on if electric tape would be safe, since a fair amount of heat stays in there but usually not in that area...You will only need a small amount compared to the other kind of tape.

I had this happen. Tape usually works if you leave it in one place and don't bump it even in the slightest. The solders to the connecter break incredibly easy and extreme care needs to be taken when opening the case. Sorry you no longer have a laptop. You now have desk-don't bump it at all-top. I did the same thing if it makes you feel any better.
