My iPod won't charge via wall outlet

Whenever I plug my ipod into a wall outlet over night I often waken up to find that it's either not charged or is just dead. It displays the charging icon and everything but it just doesn't charge. I would assume it was a battery issue but it seems to charge just fine off of devices it can connect to such as my laptop or TV.

I remember reading somewhere this is because the new plugs are desinged different and don't work older ipod is that true?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi! Well when you use the wall outlet, it should work.. Do you use the original charger ? If yes, I guess it's most likely your battery. It will charge way faster when you charge it from the wall outlet instead of just using the USB from another device. Could still be battery related..

@koppie007 thank you for your reply. To answer your question, no I never had the original charger as I brought it second hand.

@Dylan Brinkley Okay. Did you always used that charger? Or did you recently changed chargers?

I think Allan is right, perhaps the tristar ic damaged (from the beginning already). Anyway, I recommend to use the original Apple charger set, just to be sure (will be hard to find I guess, but you can always contact Apple..)

There is a possibility that you have a bad tristar ic. It controls charging and data transfer. It can be damaged by using an aftermarket charging cable that isn't MFI certified. They can cause voltage spikes and damage the tristar. I would try a MFI Certified charging cable and 110v adapter and see if the will take care of it. I would also recommend taking it to a repair shop and having the tristar checked.
