iPhone 3GS Vibrator noise

Hey Guys,

Im sure someone is going to know the answer...

I recently undertook the change of the rear panel on my 3GS iphone, as the old case had a split down near the docking point.

Anyways, the "operation" went successfully except the vibrator seems to be noisy when swithched onto silent mode or operating. It was perfect before the "operation" although not anymore...

I was wondeing if you guys knew the problem and how to resolve it?

Thanks,

Terry

Are the vibrators easily damaged? Can it sit un aligned in the phone housing?

Can you describe the noise at all? Is it a grinding noise? rattling?

My guess would be that the vibrator is either a little loose, or that something maybe got shifted on reassembly and is getting pressed against some part of the vibrator. It's never a bad idea to open up your phone and double check your work! Just in case.

If you don't find anything contacting the vibrator, check the vibrator motor's axle. Give it a gentle wiggle and see if there is any play (indicating a damaged or worn motor). If there is play you should replace it soon.

Hope this helps!

the most common problem is the cover over the top of the vibrate motor. It has 2 small tabs that actually tuck in to the rear case, place these first then place the 2 screws.

yes there are two locks which hold the vibrater tightly that sometime come out from the wall which holding the locks . just remove the two screws of vibrater and place the vibrater nicely in its place and put the screws back tightly . you are ready .
