Unable to reset SMC, SSD not recognised in recovery mode.

Hi there,

A few weeks ago my laptop decided to no longer recognise its SSD. I managed to get it recognised through a diskutil command - which I immediately lost when I restarted.

However my main issue now is that my laptop won’t charge, the magsafe LED indicator does not turn on - and I am unable to reset my SMC as the laptop will turn on after 4 seconds has passed prior to SMC reset occurring. I have tried resetting PRAM to no avail.

The SSD is likely past the point of no return, but if anyone has some secretive diskutil commands to share that would be seriously useful.

However my main problem is the charger, as I am planning on using this laptop as a basic Linux box after this with a new SSD. If anyone has solutions I’m open to answers :)!

Edit: My mission for today is to drain the battery so that the low battery Icon no longer turns on. Hopefully this will allow me to reset the SMC to enable charging again.

Its out of warranty so the world is my oyster.
