Little/No Trackpad Feedback After Small Spill

I have a friend who spilled a small amount of sugary beverage onto the keyboard of her 2017 MBAir. There are only three keys that are sticky that I’m going to clean with 99% alcohol. However, the track pad is also not clicking as it should. I’ve never run into this problem and I don’t know if it’s related to the logic board, a cable, or the trackpad itself. You have to really force press the trackpad in order for inputs to register.

I’m going to open it up and clean any noticeable residue but wants to know if there is a common solution to this.

Here’s the needed guide to take the touchpad out MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Trackpad Replacement

You’ll need to clean the case edge where the touchpad fits into so the touchpad physically depresses on the bottom edge to enable the click switch. As far as tracking that implies the pads sensor sandwich got damaged, that means you’ll need a new touchpad unit MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad
