Part replacement due to water damage, how much should I charge?
Hello my dearest friends, I have never explained this before on here so here we go, I live in a rural/suburban area outside of Santiago, Chile, because of this, there are no certified repair shops or tech centers. In the are there are several 3rd party repair shops, but with a really bad rep, so since May of last year I’ve been the neighbor that does all repairs and let me tell you, business has been booming!
Yesterday I received a 2017 13’ MacBook air, with severe liquid damage on the I/o board, I/o cable, left speaker, keyboard and trackpad, thanks to the fact I’ve been collecting hardware for about a year, I had several A1466 macbook air just for the spare parts. After replacing all said components for working ones I managed to bring the MacBook back to life so the question now is, how much should I charge for my work? Nothing is causing a short and the mac works as well as before the accident.
Did a quick search for said parts and came up with an approximate price for them of 67.000 chilean pesos, or roughly 80 US dollars.
That being said, how much should I charge for my “services” over those $80 for the parts? I notice I am very efficient at repairs and usually get them done fast, but I don’t want to overcharge this client like all the other abusive repair shops…….
Any Ideas?
Thanks!
Is this a good question?
