How do I fix the cursor, it works when I log in, but when the start window opens it freezes

Does it work with an external USB mouse?
Yes? Then your Trackpad is switched off or driver is corrupted.

Does the whole computer freeze or only the cursor? for example, try hitting control+ALT+delete while in this frozen state. What happens?
