iPod 5th Generation no sound. are 5G logic boards interchangeable?

2 part question

I have an 80gb Ipod video model A1136 and I can't get any sound out of the bottom jack or the head phone jack.

I've seen there are possible issues with the head phone jack so I replaced it, but that did not fix it. I checked diagnostic test that passed detection of head phone. I can also connect to my computer.

I've tried the pressing the right corner to see if anything changes and that doesn't work. I am assuming this means the next step is the logic board.

1. Am I on the right track to assume logc board?

2. In searching for parts, are 30GB and 60 GB 5th generation logic boards interchangeable with my 80GB? If so I can buy a cheap broke one on ebay and be done.

Yes they are. Just be careful that you do not try to fit a bigger (physical size) hard drive without checking the thickness of the drive. Just a change in logic board will be no problem. I purchase my logic boards for around 35 at multiple vendors. I stay away from buying none-working ipods for the logic boards since you never know what you get, might be the same problem as yours. Good Luck

do you have a link where you can get it for $35? Everywhere I've looked I see $55 plus which is why i figured the ebay route would work for less. You are right though that you could end up with the same problem. I've been trying to read the descriptions to make sure it's just battery or whatever else. Thank you for the response.

$36 on here. and $48 free shipping on here they usually ship fast and I have never had any problems with either shipping or quality from those vendors. Again, I am not recommending one or the other. Just giving you a few options.

just a note:

the problem is on your logic board,,,,

there are three ic's that control the output, reception and tone.

the ic on top and to the right is the culpret,

thats why when you pinch your ipod next to the click wheel it ingages

no fix, as of yet

sorry

Fixed one of those with a reflow:-) just depends on how bad the IC solder have cracked.
