Itunes recognizes the ipad, but screen remains black even after resets

It appears the ipad works, but black screen all the time. Tried many hard resets, banging it and reseting, makes sounds and is recognized by computer when pushing home and power buttons. What part should I be replacing?

Also, a software update (through a computer with iTunes) may help.

Yes, it was dropped, the screen would light up gray for about 10 minutes of trying to reset, after that, has been black since. battery power not an issue, was just charged all night. It did have the screen repaired 3 months ago, it was cracked, was done professionally.

If it is not a software issue ( and you seem to say it is not ), the LCD is probably at fault. Try the software restore first, but if that fails to fix it, you can follow iFixit’s guide to replacing the LCD. I would recommend opening the iPad first and reseating the connector before buying a new LCD to rule out a bad connection.
