Electric discharge near USB port, won't turn on anymore

On my MacBook Pro from 2013, there was a electric discharge (visible from outside) near the USB port on the left side (below the power connector) and the computer immediately turned off. It is still possible to smell burned electronics on the USB port.

Now it won’t turn on again (no display, fan not turning.) I tried turning it on with the power connector connected or disconnected. I and opened it up and disconnected the battery, but it still won’t turn on.

Is there anything that can be done to repair it, or make it work long enough to copy files off it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

The damage was on the opposite side (where the magsafe connector is) , and these ports seem to be part of the main board.

Could removing the IO board or any other part (damaged connector etc) possibly make it boot so that files can be copied off it?

I was wrong then... Remove the board that showed the electric discharge. Unfortunately, I think u will need every part to boot machine and copy files.
