Earpiece sound distorted and too loud after screen replacement

My earpiece during calls is too loud even at the lowest volume setting. It's so loud that it even distorts the sound of the other party speaking.

I replaced my iPhone 4 display twice and disassembled it several times more to fix stuff I have overlooked due to my lack of experience.

Now, that earpiece problem appeared after the second display replacement.

I changed several firmware versions inbetween the assemble/disassemble games so I'm not excluding a software issue as well, but I was wondering if there's a possible hardware reason for that - something I messed up when I was assembling it back.

Thanks for your input.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Are all connectors attached properly? The connector(s) may disconnect when re-assebling. The connector(s) might also be dirty.

Could it be the connectors to blame? I mean... it's not that I'm losing some of the sound, it's just too loud causing the earpiece to crackle right form the FIRST volume bar.

Perhaps I hevn;t lodged the earpiece correctly, I just found this on the Apple forums:

"I took mine to a genius bar and they replaced the handset as they said the earpiece was evidently defective and loose in its housing causing distortions."

Perhaps it is the connectors. check the connector again to see if the problem is still precent.
