Does it give you a crash report? If not open the Console app to grab the latest log. Post either here.

Did this start all at once or when it started did it just do it once in a while and increase in frequency?

Hey Mayer Dan and Daniel, thank you all for your pointers. I asked here for my buddy Richard, who commented as Rich, and if he will let me have a look at his machine, I can easily swap out the power supply from one of my parts machines with good power supply…

Sorry for the late response guys, I bought this iMac without hhd & ram and the previous owner said “it’s broken” lol so I am starting from scratch it does not have crash data on it through the terminal app etc so basically just shooting the moon here

by

Also I have ordered a new/used power supply for as I have used known good ram & hhd so we will wait and see

The first thing I would look at on this model is the capacitors on the power supply. Look for swollen and/or leaking ones. You may be able to actually fix this power supply rather than repairing it.

@jurgenkoppen remember to distance yourself from the bears by 6'. Hope you have learned to build a still by now although making ales is easy.

No mayer, there is still no still, because I pack it on when I imbibe the brewskies...I am roughing it with just my couch: Hauling through the universal perplexities as they are served up every moment...and loving it ...

Does it have a cooling fan and is it working? Could be overheating. If you are proficient enough and have spare parts you can swap out the RAM and try running the machine without unnecessary hardware (CD drive, HDD) to see if it stays on longer than 2 mins.
