hi ifixit,

first thank you for your great work !

my problem: with one of my 2 apple dvi to adc adapters (AC/DC) seems to be something wrong ...

tha cinema display goes on and off in different times.

not the apple-display is broken, as if connected to the other apple adapter all ok.

please tell me how to open the adapter-case to have some electronictech to look which part is "broken".

thank you best regards

sascha

p.s. sorry for confusing, but it's the ac/dc adapter 100-240V

The way your adapter is working I would think one of the wires is making and breaking contact. The only way I know to open the adapter is with a deremel tool cutting wheel. When through with the repair you would need to tape the cover back together. The end result is ugly and unreliable because you can never quite secure the wires the way they were. Also if you are going to pay someone else to do the repair it would be less expensive to purchase a new adapter. Link provided. Good luck whatever your decision.

Hi Richard, Here's a link to one of these on ebay---if it were me I'd use your $5.50 unit. I really can't tell the big advantage to this unit but I believe my original solution stands. Cut it open with a dremel disk and repair if possible the bad wire.
