Screen is blank after powering on Contixo Tablet

My coworker asked me to fix her daughter’s tablet. The device turns on, but the screen stays blank. I’ve tried booting into safe-mode which did nothing and I couldn’t find a reset button to try that.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Does the screen "light up" but with no display or stay completely dark?

If it stays "dark" after turning it on, try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check for any images that may be there. They will be very faint if there, so trying this in a darkened room may help.

The questions above are only to determine if it may be a screen problem, a screen connection problem or a systemboard problem.

e.g. lights up but no display means the backlight circuit is OK on both the screen and the systemboard but there is a video problem in the screen or systemboard, the LCD flex cable connection would appear to be OK

e.g. stays dark with images seen using torch means a backlight problem somewhere, screen or systemboard, the LCD flex cable connection would appear to be OK

e.g. stays dark no images seen using torch means a video/backlight problem somewhere, screen, LCD flex cable connection or systemboard

As a DIY repair the next thing to do is to open the tablet and check the LCD screen flex cable connection to the systemboard. If that looks OK then temporarily replace the LCD screen to further isolate where the problem is, LCD screen or systemboard.

This may be an option to consider as there doesn’t seem to be many, if any LCD displays available for the tablet. It says that the logo is showing so that means that the screen works. You could use it as a donor parts tablet.

Also there’s no information online as to how to replace the tablet’s LCD screen (it may be easier to replace the whole assembly, i.e. digitizer as well as LCD screen), so you may have to search YouTube for screen replacement procedures for generic “no name” tablets and use them as a general guide.
