iPod Touch is Disabled - Tried everything

I've gone through this site and I don't see anything that will help me with this issue.

My son in his brilliance added a passcode to my ipod and then forgot it. By trying over and over again to enter the passcode he got locked out.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but to add to my misery I got the blue screen of death on my computer and had to reformat the hard drive. I had to redownload iTunes.

When I try to put it in DFU mode, while I am holding the home button the apple logo appears as soon as I touch the on/off button. I've tried this 20 times, same result.

iTunes gives me this message...

iTunes could not connect to ipod Jodi because it's locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the ipod before you can use iTunes...

iPod is disabled so I can't enter the passcode..

I would appreciate any help you can give me..

Thank you in advance

Jodi

I finally got it to go to recovery mode

by

I held down the on/off button and home buttons the Apple Logo popped up right away, but I held the home button for approximately 10 seconds and it went into recovery mode. I think you have to cancel the other msg (iTunes could not connect to ipod Jodi because it's locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the ipod before you can use iTunes...)before it will work.

I hope this helps someone else..
