PS3 Controller (Sixaxis) not charging from dock, charges with cable

Greetings,

I bought a cheap charging dock from aliexpress some time ago, problem is it’s not charging my Sixaxis controller, usually I would just write it off as defective and throw it out, problem is, I also have a “fake“ dualshock 3 controller for ps3 also from aliexpress, and it charges without any problems on that dock.

Could it be that the dock in question is too low voltage or amp for the sixaxis controller, could that make it not charge?

Seems like the issue is actually related to the fact that the dock doesnt carry a data signal via USB for some reason. I’ve found the answer in this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS3/comments/5k...

and then tested it for myself.
