Not charging and overheating when back is on?

My iphone 4 CDMA that i repaired a few weeks ago from water damage now will not charge and overheats on the logic board side of the phone. When i take the back cover off it charges like normal and has a normal temp though, but as soon as that cover goes back on the charging freezes up and it starts to get really hot. What could this be?

Sounds alot like there's a short happening. Take your back cover off and check for any exposed electrical connections that may be connecting the back case. If there's nothing visible try digging a little deeper into the phone and see if another part is perhaps getting pressed against an exposed electrical connection.

What is a "battery connector cover"? There is a battery connector, this has the single hole with a screw holding it down, but where is the cover? You said, "forgot to put the battery connector cover back on".
