Screen completely dark, external monitor works

I got this iMac used, the previous owner told me the connector to display on motherboard had broken off. I had the connector replaced by a professional repair shop, but the screen still won’t turn on. Not just backlight, the screen is completely off, not even showing in system information. (I tried to shine a flashlight into it, nothing)

If I hook it up to an external monitor, it works as the only display device, so I think the video card is fine..

Now what could be the problem? assuming the connector and display cable are working correctly (I tested every pin with multimeter)

LCD itself? Display power board?

I’d appreciate some expert opinions, thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi

It seems, backlight is not working.

If it's only the backlight, shouldn't the screen be detected in system information as a display device? As in, my external monitor should be an extended desktop, instead of the only desktop.

What is the tech telling you? Did you or he take any pictures of the damage? If you have pics lets see them Adding images to an existing question

I’m suspecting he didn’t properly install the connector and/or there was more damage where the solder pads got pulled off so there is no electrical connection to the deeper circuits beyond the solder point on the main logic board.
