Kenmore Side-by-Side - Strange Dispenser Motor Behavior

Hi Everyone!

Gotta Kenmore Elite Side-by-Side where the dispenser motor seemed to stop working. After further investigation, here’s the strange part.

First off, one frustrating thing is that this particular model won’t allow water or ice to be dispensed unless both doors are closed.

While trying to figure out the problem, I taped the freezer door trigger to simulate being closed and took out the ice bucket. Lo and behold, the motor turned. I thought maybe it was no longer strong enough to turn the bucket crank, but nope, while the door is open and trigger taped, it works perfectly.

Here’s the kicker. As you hold the outer cup trigger, the motor runs. As you close the door it runs until just about 2 inches before closing and it stops. Without letting go of the cup trigger, you can open and close the door and the motor always starts back as you open it and stops at 2 inches before closing.

What the heck?!?!?
