Motherboard overheats when powered up

So I’m still a beginner in microsoldering but I like to experiment with boards. This is how I learn.

I have a board here that was working perfectly fine but when a friend of mine want to put the logic board in a new backcase and he powered the phone one, it showed the temperature warning and I felt that the left/long side of the logic board got very warm.

i was inspecting under my microscope because I thought this might of been the power button connector which might be bended or something but i think it might be screw damage, can anybody tell me for sure? I will post pictures I appreciate your help and support

the screwholes warm up the most and immediately cool down when i disconnect the battery

what does it pull on dc or do you have a dc power supple you can use

?

which screw whole is that on the board

Hey Kyle thanks for your response, I'm afraid that I do not have a DC power supply, i have the battery which I fully charged and also a voltage meter

The first screwhole is the one the left with the diagonal cap, the second picture is the screwhole which is grey on the pads viewer (ground) and the last one is the screwhole on the upper right corner

by

i do not feel it is screw hole damage i have seen worse and it not be screw hole damage i fill you have a short put your meter in continuity mode stick red on a ground pin and black on the screw hole if you get beeping its shorted to ground

by

@lbsocal12 thank u so much i have short on the first screwhole, how do i fix this, just remove screwhole and make jumper with cap?

by

remove the two caps on line do not jump cap test see if it fixes the problem there are only two caps and a resistor on that line one cap is no stuff so the other should be right next to it

I have seen worse screw holes than that. The only one to be concerned about would be BS0402 I think it has two voltage lines under or beside it 1V8 and a 2V line. The other screw holes I think just have a ground plain.

If you are just learning or an experienced repairer the next step would be to put the board into another known good housing with a known good screen.

If it is still throwing out the temp warning start checking your voltage lines.
