Spilled unsweetened tea on my camera NEX 7. It won’t turn off now.

I put the camera in a plastic bag with rice and sealed it. Took out memory card and battery. Did it yesterday. Still has issues - it will turn in, but not off. Does not display images on memory card. How long should I wait it out? Can it be repaired?

Answer this question I have this problem too

@calbuckwheat just like any other device, Rice does absolutely do nothing. It only provides you with a false sense of security that you are doing something. It does not work!

Take it out of the Rice and stop trying to turn it on or to use it in any other way. Remove your memory card. Now it is time to take it completely apart. Use these guides Sony NEX-7 for the basics and this document Sony NEX7_7K SM to get this accomplished. Once disassembled you will need to clean all parts like circuit boards ribbon cables etc., with a soft brush and a high grade isopropyl alcohol solution. Something like this guide Repairing iPhone Liquid Damage will give you an idea of what you will need to do. Check for any odd parts or pieces and post images of those if you need clarifications on this. Once cleaned, replace the batteries and reassemble your camera. Do not reuse your memory card either Only after you have it cleaned can you properly evaluate the damage and hopefully getting it fixed. Water damage on any device is one of the hardest things to repair since virtually any part can have failed. Adding images to an existing question
